Nvidia Share (Shadowplay) | Audio quality (high frequency bugs; beeps)

Deutsch

My Geforce Experience's Share function suffered for a long time from a nasty bug.
The audio quality was poor due to sudden high frequency's, as if the audio driver couldn't interpret a specific amplitude and simply returned it as beeps (high frequency artifacts) by same amplitude.

The solution is simple (thanks PredandBeranie):
You have to set the default format of your playback device to 48kHz. Here's how you do that:

Warning: Changing the default format while a process (Chrome tab, Music Player, ...) is playing, will mute said process, since it basically "lost" its target audio device.
Stop any music or (to be safe) close all unnecessary software. Either way it is very likely that you have to restart the software to have it playing again. (depends on the software)

  1. Rightclick on the speaker symbol in the task tray in your bottom right corner.
  2. Choose "Playback devices"
  3. Open the properties of your default playback device.
(Double clicking on the default playback device, marking (simple click) on your default device and then clicking on the button "Properties", or rightclicking on your default playback device and choosing "Properties")
  4. Switch to tab "Advanced"
  5. Choose in "Default Format" "16 bit, 48000 Hz" or "24 bit, 48000 Hz".
If you don't know wether to choose 16 bit or 24 bit, simply choose
"16 bit, 48000 Hz", if your previous setting had "16 bit, something Hz".
"24 bit, 48000 Hz", if your previous setting had "24 bit, something Hz".
  6. Click on "OK".
It may be possible that you have to restart your PC so that Shadowplay takes the changes into effect.
If there's no difference - sorry, that this troubleshoot didn't solve your problem. But if you find a solution to your problem, please spread it along, so others have also the chance to solve it. :)
